Collado’s Inauguration
Thousands attended Collado’s inauguration on Saturday morning, and the room fell silent after she was welcomed.
Ithaca College alumni, Ithaca community members, I.C. representatives, the board of trustees and finally students stood separately to applaud the new head of the college.
She was introduced by friends, her husband, and the President of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, Freeman A. Hrabowski III.

“I challenge you, Ithaca College, as you accept this wonderful woman as your president, to remember your own words you’ve spoken for years… may all your sons and daughters dare to live their dreams,” Hrabowski said.
Collado received a standing ovation before she started her speech. After expressing her gratitude, she focused on the development of the school.
“For us to thrive over the next 125 years, we must continue to expand our definition of what it is to perform,” Collado said.
The campus community seems to be optimistic about the college’s future.
“I thought the inauguration was very inspiring and I’m excited that she’s our next president,” said Kaitlyn Sevilla ’20. “I think she’s able to connect with a lot of different students because she cares deeply about every single one of us and our education.”

Homecoming Football Game
The Bombers played up to a big stage this weekend. Ithaca moved to the top of the Liberty League standings with a 20-3 win over Union College.
Union had a seven-game winning streak snapped. They amassed a mere 188 total yards, including only 84 passing yards.
That’s in large part due to defensive seniors. Linebacker Dan Loizos recorded 12 total tackles and a forced fumble. Not far behind was safety Jordan Schemm with 11 tackles and a half sack.
On the offensive side of the ball, Ithaca’s freshman quarterback Wahid Nabi continued to shine, tossing for 284 yards in the contest. The team’s two touchdowns came on the backs of rushers Tristan Brown and Isaiah D’Haiti.
In its final 2017 regular season game, Ithaca will battle SUNY Cortland in the 59th Annual Cortaca Jug next Saturday, November 11.
