Inauguration of President Shirley M. Collado
Saturday, Nov. 4, 10 a.m., Athletics and Events Center – Glazer Arena
On Nov. 4, members of the Ithaca College community will attend the inauguration of Shirley M. Collado, marking the beginning of her tenure as Ithaca College’s ninth president. Collado came to Ithaca College in July and is the first person of color to be president of the school. The ceremony will feature music, special remarks, a poetry reading and the inauguration itself.
Homecoming Football Game
Saturday, Nov. 4, 1 p.m., Butterfield Stadium
The Ithaca College Bombers will be playing Union College following last year’s 14-9 win. Tickets are free to the public in honor of the weekend’s celebrations. The team’s current season record is 4-3 and the game will be the last regular Liberty League matchup for the Bombers.
IC125 Community Celebration
Saturday, Nov. 4, 6 p.m., Athletics and Events Center – Glazer Arena
The weekend’s largest event and biggest celebration will feature presentations and performances by Ithaca College students, faculty and alumni. Local business Purity Ice Cream will be debuting a new flavor to celebrate the anniversary, and the name for the combination of chocolate ice cream, cherry swirl, brownie pieces and roasted almonds will be voted upon by attendees. Ithaca College’s top 25 icons, nominated by community members over the past few months, will also be revealed at the event.
Handwerker Gallery 40th Anniversary
Friday, Nov. 3, 5 p.m, Handwerker Gallery – Gannett Center
The Handwerker Gallery was founded in 1977 by Ithaca College Board of Trustees member Murray Handwerker to showcase art from all over the world. Over the past 40 years, the gallery has invited students, community members and artists to engage with more than 200 exhibitions. Students will be leading tours of the three current exhibitions on display at the Handwerker Gallery in celebration of its 40th anniversary.
Park Tank
Friday, Nov. 3, 5 p.m., The Studio – Center Ithaca – Ithaca Commons
It’s “Shark Tank” meets the “X-Factor”: the fourth annual Park Tank will be hosted by the Roy H. Park School of Communications in the downtown commons. Students will be pitching new media-based business concepts for a panel of alumni judges and live audience voting in order to win a share of $1,000. Previous winners have pitched an anti-smoking device, podcasts and smartphone applications.
Under 10 at Lot 10 Young Alumni Celebration
Saturday, Nov. 4, 10 p.m., Lot 10
Young alumni who have been out of Ithaca College for 10 years or less will be gathering at Lot 10, a local bar favorite of many Ithaca College students and alums. Ithaca Week will be there to cover the celebration and reunions.
